Toyota has become the third major car manufacturer to pull out of Formula One in the space of twelve months. With word of the exit having circulated already, confirmation of the Japanese marque’s decision came on Wednesday; the news does, however, mean that there is now space on the grid for the Qadbak-owned Sauber outfit.

BMW has announced that it will be withdrawing from Formula One at the end of the 2009 season. The announcement came in an emergency press conference at the manufacturer’s Munich headquarters on Wednesday morning as the marque becomes the second major car company to leave the sport within eight months.

On Wednesday the FIA announced which teams have been accepted for the 2010 Formula One world Championship. A total of 13 teams will be racing in Formula 1 next season. The new teams to enter the sport are Campos, Manor and Team US F1.
